This policy outlines how Legal & Insurance Services Limited (LIS) uses and stores the personal information supplied to LIS by a solicitor, Legal Executive, Licensed Conveyancer, any insurance broker registered with the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and on behalf of a policyholder of an insurance policy quoted by LIS.

Who manages this website?

This website is owned by Legal Insurance Services and managed by Southern IT Ltd.

Use of Information Collected

LIS collects the following information from a solicitor, Legal Executive, Licensed Conveyancer or insurance broker:

  • Contact Information - in order to fulfil the contract
  • Bank Account details - when required to make a refund or claims payment

LIS collects the following information about the policyholder when requested to produce an insurance policy quotation or to manage a claim or complaint:

  • Contact information: including name and property address
  • Policyholder information supplied by their appointed solicitor or conveyancer, or broker, when getting a quote and/or ordering a policy, or when notifying about a claim

LIS is only allowed, by law, to use personal information if there is a valid reason for doing so.

The personal information will be kept for the length of time that the policy remains in force and longer if it cannot be deleted for legal or regulatory reasons.

Sharing of Information

LIS may share your information with the Insurer, Liberty Legal Indemnities, and their agents, The Financial Ombudsman and a specialist law firm appointed by the Insurer to manage the policyholders claim.

LIS will not send any data outside of the European Economic Area (EEA).

Your Personal Information

You can request a full copy of all the information held by LIS about you or to request your information to be corrected by writing to: Legal Insurance Services Ltd, PO Box 234, Tunbridge Wells, Kent, TN3 0LX

You have the "right to be forgotten" and so can request that LIS delete or stop using your personal information if there is no need for LIS to retain your information. However LIS may need to hold your information for legal, regulatory, or contractual reasons.

You can also ask LIS to restrict the use of your personal information if:

  • it isn't accurate, but you don't want LIS to correct it
  • it has been used unlawfully but you don't want LIS to delete it
  • it isn't relevant any more, but you want LIS to keep it for legal or regulatory purposes
  • you have asked LIS to stop using your information but you are waiting for LIS to tell you if they are allowed to continue to use it
